The Fyre Festival was a phoney music festival organised by con artist Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule. It was made to promote Fyre Media's music talent booking app. On the Bahamian island of Great Exuma, the festival was set to take place April 28-30 and May 5-7, 2017. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, and Emily Ratajkowski were among the models who advertised the event on Instagram, many of whom did not reveal that they were paid to do so. The first weekend of the Fyre Festival was marred by security, food, lodging, health facilities, and artist relationships, leading to the festival's indefinite postponement and eventual cancellation.
